“ Helsen gives a tactile glimpse into the sonic expanses Burning House explores as well as the emotional tone saturated in those aural spaces. It’s an impressive feat and a bold statement for Helsen, and builds off the stellar discography he’s built through the years.”

‘Burning House’ turns Isaac’s focus away from guitar, highlighting analog synth and field recordings. His vision was to veer away from comfort and explore new processes of composition, with a greater focus on detailed sound design and arrangement. The beginning stages of this album date back to 2017 when Isaac began to develop a greater connection between photography and music, realizing this was a way to naturally spark new musical ideas. The album’s field recordings are re-used and processed differently throughout the seven pieces, representing repetitive and distorted thought processing. ‘Burning House’ leaves the listener with simultaneous residues of darkness and comfort, the recurring themes like blankets in the cold.
